- Microsoft office 2016 not installing windows 10 free

Adding the CTR virtual computer environment to the Office installation process has introduced a whole bunch of complications and opportunities for new errors. Opportunities for new errors that have been popping up like toadstools. Unfortunately, while MS programmers created error codes and messages some useful, descriptive messages, all too many totally useless generic "oops" type messages MS Program managers did not insist on creating documentation for the cause and fixes for each message.

Very unprofessional programming Note: one very common cause of Office errors reported in this forum has been " network connection issues ". Anyway my connectivity is quite good both on download and on upload.

I thought of doing a "clean" install but I would need a lot more time to do that, re-installing all my applications etc.

I thought a quicker solution could be reverting to Windows 7. I tried it using the option in Settings but system reboots in Win 10 after doing nothing.

Done this several times. Don't know if there is a manual procedure. Again installation failed, no error was displayed only the progress bar when nearly finished started moving backwards, uninstalled everything and said there was a problem or something. This is beyond a buggy system, it is a idiotic system, which trying to hide all complexity from non-technical users gives absolutely no tools to troubleshoot a problem.

To be fair, I have seen very smooth upgrades to Win 10 but I believe a successful product is the one that can handle abnormal situations and failures of any kind. Yes, doing a clean Win 10 install is a big investment in time.

But if your current Win 10 install is buggy, that is probably the next best fix if you want to stay with Win If your card does not have a specific Win 10 video driver, is it currently using one of the default Win 10 drivers, or something else? If it is using something else, you could download that driver for use in the clean install. Personally, I am a believer in periodic Windows re-installs to clean up "software rot". And I prefer also prefer to work with clean Windows install to an upgrade, for the same reason.

But, as you point out it is time consuming. Oh, yes. If you had done a full image copy backup BEFORE starting the upgrade process you wouldn't have to try to trouble shoot the failing Win 10 backout process.

Anytime you are doing disk intensive work, OS upgrade even service packs , disk re-org, major software upgrades starting with a "known good" BEFORE image backup can save a lot of tears and time when the "unexpected" happens.

After you get your Win 10 upgrade, or Office upgrade working and configured, you should make another Full image copy backup. That way, in the future if you have any problems, you have a known good installation you can fall back to.

There are very few full standalone install ISO files for PS: if you know of where we can download one, many people would be interested to know! For your Office installs, you could also try turning on "Verbose Logging" mode. This tells Windows to have 'verbal diarrhea' and copy huge volumes of messages during the install process. You get success messages, informational warning messages, and failure error messages all saved into several text files. Then you just scan through the log files to see if you can identify a warning or error message that pinpoints your failure.

Then you search for solutions to that problem. You can post the generated Logs in Skydrive and give a link to them to your technician if you need technical help. So posting extract may catch the problem, but often miss the important info, so it is best to give us access to everything captured. The best thing to do in this situation is to restart your computer, and run Office Setup again with complete verbose logging turned on with one additional option.

To do this, start Office Setup. To do so, follow these steps:. To enable Windows Installer logging yourself, open the registry with Regedit.

The letters in the value field can be in any order. Each letter turns on a different logging mode. Note This should be used only for troubleshooting purposes and should not be left on because it will have adverse effects on system performance and disk space. When looking through the MSI logs we will typically want to look for a value 3 entry in the logs.

Windows installer returns codes during the install which will indicate if a particular function was successful or not. Now try to install Microsoft Office to get the error message so that the log files get created. Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit 3 people found this reply helpful. My laptop is fully functional -except the Office apps of course which is what I use most of the time when not using a browser.

I think I can install some of the software on an 'on-demand' basis and some other I may not install at all. I already wasted 3 days trying to fix it, I will make a list with the software I have installed and begin a clean installation as soon as I get to the office tomorrow. I will be done with the basics in a day or so, unless everything goes wrong!! Microsoft Action pack for partners, includes one I guess.

Verbose logging is something I wish I had on Saturday, it might help me resolve the issue. But it is good to know and thank you for sharing the related info. I had Office , Project and Vision installed on an 8. I upgraded to Windows Everything was fine.

I turned off the anti-virus, connected my laptop by an Ethernet cable instead of wireless and plugged the laptop into a wall socket. I also turned off the printing spool. Installing Office failed. This appeared to work although I get from time to time some generic white rectangle popup stating that the operating system is not configured properly to run some program doesn't state which.

So I decide to install Project I tried to install it. But instead of finding Project there - I found Visio! Selecting "change" successfully installed Visio - but no sign of Project. So I thought maybe someone got confused at Microsoft. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.

Yesterday thought it would be a good time to upgrade my Win7 laptop to Win If you have an enterprise account, you may be redirected to your organization's Office page to complete this process. If your system came with a copy of Microsoft Office, it may already be pre-installed. If not, you should have a product key from the manufacturer, which you can use to download Office from Microsoft.

Alternatively, if you bought Microsoft Office from Microsoft or through another retailer, you can use this same method to download replacement installation files. Whatever your situation, head to Microsoft's Download Office page. Sign in, input your product key, and download your version of Office. There are ways to get a free and legal Microsoft Office license if you don't have one. No matter which method you use to download Office, the installation process is the same.

It's quick and simple to use. Start by opening the installation file. A window opens to detail that Microsoft Office is being installed. Office comes in both bit and bit versions; the former is the default. If you already have part of Office installed in bit, the other applications will also use that.

If you want to reinstall everything in bit, you must first uninstall Office. When the installation process is complete, a message will read: You're all set!
